The Prowler - oils

This is an oil painting - another one of my oldies from the attic!!
This is quite an big painting - the fox is almost natural size.

(Unfortunately the strap from my camera shows in the bottom righthand corner from when I photographed it!!)

Red foxes are found throughout Asia (except the south-east), North America, Europe except for Iceland, and in some parts of Northern Africa.

Man introduced them to Australia where they are now present in most parts.

They live mostly in forests, from the high mountains to coastal areas and steppes and even in large city parks.


Males are generally larger than females, and foxes in the northern areas tend to be bigger than in the south.

The colour of the fur is yellowish red to black, generally brownish red with a white throat, belly and tip of the tail, and black feet and rims of the ears.
